That is what Merchant of Record means, and it is what moves the transaction tax, the fraud risk and the chargebacks off your business. A checkout Hosted as a full page, as an overlay on your own site, or embedded inline. All three are PCI-compliant, and card details are entered on a surface we serve rather than one you run. A storefront, if you want one A no-code builder with pages, sections and product pages, published on a subdomain or your own custom domain. You can also ignore it entirely and point buy buttons at a checkout from a site you already have. Billing that repeats Subscriptions with plans, custom intervals, free trials, usage-based pricing and proration on plan changes. One-time downloads, memberships and game keys sell through the same catalogue. A customer portal A branded, passwordless area where buyers change plan, replace a card, re-download files, find their keys and pull invoices — so those requests stop arriving in your inbox. A developer surface A REST API over products, offers, orders, payments, subscriptions and users, signed webhooks, a JavaScript SDK, a CLI and an MCP server. Using none of it is a supported choice. ## How you actually start 1. 01 ### Look before you sign up The store builder runs without an account, so you can see what a store and a checkout would look like before giving us anything at all. 2. 02 ### Create a workspace and a product No upfront cost and no card. A product holds what you sell; an offer holds the price, the currency and the billing interval for it. Workspaces are verified as part of setup. 3. 03 ### Put a checkout where your buyers are A hosted link, one HTML attribute on a button, or a call from the SDK — the same checkout opened three ways. Sandbox mode runs a full purchase without charging anything. 4. 04 ### Connect a payout account Your money lands in your own connected account. Payouts are daily by default in supported countries, and the first one is typically scheduled 7 to 14 days after your first payment. ## What it replaces, what it costs, and when it is the wrong tool 01 ### What it replaces A gateway, a merchant account application, a tax engine, a subscription billing service, an invoicing tool and a customer billing portal. That is six vendors and five integrations between them, and the seams between them are where reconciliation usually goes wrong. 02 ### What it costs 5% + 50¢ per successful transaction. No monthly fee, no tier and nothing at all in a month with no sales. That one rate covers processing, tax calculation and filing, fraud screening and chargebacks. Negotiable once you are selling at volume. 03 ### The trade-off worth naming As a percentage that is more than a bare payment processor charges, because a processor does not register in a jurisdiction or file a return. If you already hold the registrations you need and have the finance function to run them, doing it yourself can cost less. The honest comparison is total cost, including the hours, not the headline rate. 04 ### When it is the wrong fit This is a platform for digital goods, so physical products with stock and shipping are out of scope. If your company must be the named seller — because customers sign agreements with you, or procurement requires your name on the contract — an MoR is structurally the wrong shape.
