A lower headline rate is not the same as a lower bill
Dodo starts at 4% + 40¢ against our 5% + 50¢. Then international adds 1.5%, subscriptions add 0.5%, and a dispute costs $30. On the transaction most digital businesses actually run, we come out cheaper.
Dodo Payments is a Merchant of Record with a genuinely good product and a headline rate below ours, and if you sell one-off products to customers holding US cards it is cheaper than we are. The reason to read further is that their price is built from parts. International cards add 1.5%, subscriptions and usage billing add 0.5%, PayPal and buy-now-pay-later add 3%, each dispute costs $30, each refund costs $1, and recovered revenue costs 5% of whatever comes back. Ours is one number that does not move. Which of us is cheaper depends entirely on who your customers are and how often they pay.

Where the flat rate actually wins
The surcharges apply to the normal case, not the edge case
Dodo's 4% covers a domestic US card buying a one-off product. Sell a subscription and it is 4.5%. Sell it to someone outside the United States and it is 6%. For a digital business those two conditions are not exceptions, they are the description of the business — which is why a $30 international renewal costs $2.20 with them and $2.00 with us, despite their headline being a point lower.
Disputes are absorbed rather than billed
A $30 chargeback on their side costs the $30 you lose plus a $30 fee, so a disputed sale costs roughly twice its value. We charge nothing per dispute because screening them out before they settle is our job rather than your line item. Our platform dispute rate is 0.04%, against the 0.7% at which card networks start putting sellers into monitoring programmes.
Recovered revenue stays yours
Their dunning, retries and abandoned-cart emails are free to switch on and then take 5% of everything they bring back. That is a fee on money you had already earned and nearly lost. Ours are included, and what they recover arrives at the ordinary rate with nothing extra taken off it.
Money arrives daily, without a threshold
Their payouts are free above $1,000 and $5 below it, with $25 for a SWIFT payout to a non-US business. If you are early, or outside the US, that is a fee on being small or being foreign. We pay out daily by default into your own account, with no minimum balance and no per-payout charge, and you can switch to weekly, monthly or manual whenever it suits.
Games are a first-class case, not a banned one
Dodo's merchant acceptance policy lists gaming and virtual-goods environments among its prohibited categories, naming online games, in-game currencies, digital item sales and game boosters. Both platforms deliver license keys, but only one of us runs web stores for mobile in-app purchases, sells Steam keys, and handles in-game items and currency packs. If any part of your revenue comes from inside a game, the rate comparison never gets started.
When Dodo Payments is the better call
No provider wins every case, and a comparison that pretends otherwise is not worth your time. Here is where Dodo Payments is the better answer.
You sell one-off products to customers in the United States
This is the transaction their pricing is built for, and on it they are straightforwardly cheaper: 4% + 40¢ against our 5% + 50¢, with none of the surcharges triggered. If your catalogue is one-time purchases and your buyers hold US cards, price it and take the saving.
A meaningful share of your revenue is Indian
Their India coverage is the best of anyone we compare against — local cards and UPI at 4% + 15¢. If India is a real market for you rather than a rounding error, that alone can outweigh everything else on this page.
You want to keep your own payment processor
Their Bring Your Own Processor option charges 0.5% on payments routed through your own acquirer. If you already have processing you are happy with and want the tax and compliance layer only, that is a cheaper shape than moving everything.
What sellers say once they have switched
★★★★★ 4.8/5 from 10 reviews on G2 →
Vadim Finayev “We work with quite a few merchants of record, but none comes close to the support and speed of implementation of Fungies. If you want a payment partner that actually gives you the feeling they want to work with you — rather than leaving you on read for three days or randomly restricting your account — you are in the right place.”
David Elliott “I researched the options and Fungies was the best fit for functionality and customisation within a store builder you can connect to your own domain. Taking a small percentage of sales, instead of charging a subscription for every environment and plugin, is refreshing.”
Elnura Abdimanap Kyzy “The platform is user-friendly, integrates easily with APIs and webhooks, and simplifies managing digital products and subscriptions. We were up and running quickly and support has been responsive throughout. Fungies is clearly tailored to the needs of SaaS businesses.”
Francisco Magnone Rienzi “Fungies has been a great partner — fast setup, competitive pricing, and real humans providing quick answers. They are constantly rolling out new features, and I am excited to see what is next.”
