Sell legal products here. Bill clients somewhere else.

We cannot touch client money, and that is structural rather than a missing feature. Funds pass through our merchant account before reaching yours, which is exactly what a trust account must never allow. Retainers, IOLTA, escrow and unearned fees are out of scope permanently. What is in scope is everything a legal business sells that is not legal services.

No upfront costs. No credit card required.

Already selling with Fungies

The branded customer portal showing a buyer's purchased templates, downloads, receipts and subscription details.
Where a buyer returns for their documents, invoices and subscription, on your domain.

The products this is built for

Legal-tech subscriptions
Software sold to firms and in-house teams on monthly or annual plans, with seats, trials, proration and access driven by webhooks rather than by a spreadsheet.
Document and template packs
Contract libraries, precedent bundles and forms delivered as files the moment payment clears, with no fulfilment step for you to remember.
CLE and professional courses
Training sold one-time or as a membership, with the buyer landing in a portal that holds their access and their receipt.
Research and reference tools
Recurring access products, including usage-based pricing where what a customer pays follows what they consumed.
Invoices for firm buyers
A partner buying on behalf of a practice enters company details and a tax ID at checkout and receives a proper invoice by email.
Global sales without foreign registrations
Legal content sells across borders. The VAT, GST and sales tax that creates is calculated, remitted and filed by us as the seller of record.

Drawing the line in practice

  1. 01

Separate the product from the service

A template pack, a course or a software licence is a product sale. Fees for advice, representation or anything billed against a matter are not, and no setting here changes that.

  2. 02

Confirm the money is already yours

Revenue from a product sale is earned at the point of purchase. If the money would have to sit unearned until work is done, it belongs in a trust account and cannot come through here.

  3. 03

    Publish the products

Build a store in the visual builder, add downloads, subscriptions or memberships, and connect a domain you own. None of this needs a developer.

  4. 04

Let the portal absorb the follow-up

Re-download requests, invoice copies, card updates and cancellations all happen in a branded portal customers sign into with a magic link.

Why the trust-account answer is a hard no

01

The Merchant of Record model is the reason

We become the legal seller on every transaction. That is deliberate, and it is what moves worldwide tax liability off your business. It is also completely wrong for client funds, which must remain the client's and must never be commingled with a third party's merchant account.

02

Fees are deducted before you are paid

Our commission comes out of the transaction on the way through. A trust account requires the full amount to arrive intact, with any fee taken from an operating account instead. The two models cannot be reconciled.

03

No matter-level accounting exists here

There are no matters, no client ledgers, no three-way reconciliation and no trust reporting. Firms billing time need practice-management software with a compliant payments integration, and that is a different category of product.

04

For the products, the economics are simple

5% + 50¢ per successful transaction covering processing, tax, fraud screening and chargebacks. No monthly platform fee, and nothing charged in a month where nothing sold. Negotiable once you are selling at volume.

What sellers say once they have switched

“We work with quite a few merchants of record, but none comes close to the support and speed of implementation of Fungies. If you want a payment partner that actually gives you the feeling they want to work with you — rather than leaving you on read for three days or randomly restricting your account — you are in the right place.”

“I researched the options and Fungies was the best fit for functionality and customisation within a store builder you can connect to your own domain. Taking a small percentage of sales, instead of charging a subscription for every environment and plugin, is refreshing.”
